A Practical Guide To Websites For Small Local Businesses

Summary

Now comes the hardest part - sitting down and actually doing the work. Here's how I suggest goin about it:

  1. First decide whether you are going to hire a professional website designer or build your own website using SiteBuildIt (http://sbi.3-18.com) or other tools.

  2. Print out the section on designing your site (section V). Get out any old ads, promotional materials, etc. that you have. Lay it all out on your desk and make a rough draft of your site's home page.

  3. Now put it away for a few days. When you look at it again, try to get into your customer's head. What can be improved? Does anything need to be added, deleted or changed?

  4. When you are reasonably satisfied with your draft, make your home page and put it online. Remember that you can easily change your web pages whenever you wish.

  5. If you have good photos available, post them on your site as I describe in Chapter 5 (if you don't you can add them later).

  6. As time permits add new pages with articles, advice, news, etc.

That's it! Your website is done and ready to be submitted to the search engines. Now you can do your online and offline promotions. And, if you wish, promote some affiliate programs to bring in extra income.

The time to act is now! Don't hesitate to grab the competitive advantage that a website can offer you. Because you never know which of your competitors is reading this report right now!
